About Us

We love swimmers!

Applewood Knolls Swim Team is a summer club swim team in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and is part of the Foothills Swim Association and the Colorado Summer Swim Club Association.

We are open to swimmers ages 5-18 years old. While we want EVERYONE to swim, it is important to note that swimmers and parents understand this is not an extension of swim lessons and we need swimmers to be safe in the water before we let them loose.

Swimmers aged 8 or younger should be able to swim at least 25 meters (one length) unassisted, and swimmers 9 and up should be able to swim 50 meters (one lap) unassisted in order to participate.

Practices are 45 to 75 minutes long depending on age/ability group. All swimmers are expected to listen and follow instructions as outlined by their coach so as not to be a danger to themselves or others.

While This is a competitive team and we participate in weekly meets, we do understand that vacations and other commitments during the summer do exist. Communication with coaches and staff regarding expected absences is all we ask for so that we can plan ahead.

Our Vision

Our coaching staff and community of swimming families have created a culture that welcomes all swimmers equally, new-comers, seasoned swimmers, and those who feel like they are late to the party.

Plan on lots of fun, loads of support, and cheering for all accomplishments! Swimming is a life-long sport and we want to help develop the love for swimming in your kid.

We love our volunteers!

Finally, we are a volunteer-run operation here. Absolutely nothing happens without the help of our parents and families.

Participation on our swim team, as with any summer swim team, requires volunteer hours from each family.

The Family Participation Agreement Form that is signed at enrollment will detail the exact number of hours needed for that year.

As a ballpark figure, it should be somewhere between 10 to 15 hours per family for the summer depending on the variety of meets that the League is hosting that year.
